Electricity generation in Brazil grew 1,1% (68.639 MWmed) in the first half of September, compared to the same period last year. The information appears in the InfoMercado Quinzenal bulletin, published by the CCEE (Electric Energy Trading Chamber).
Highlights include centralized photovoltaic plants, which grew 42,5% (2.657 MWmed) in the period. Until September, 3 GW of centralized solar energy power was added to the Brazilian electricity matrix, a record increase. In 2022, for example, the increase for the entire year was 2,5 GW.
In total, Brazil has 10,3 GW of centralized solar capacity in operation. Hydroelectric production totaled 43.570 average GW, an increase of 2,4% considering the same comparison basis. Generations from wind (13.310 MWmed) and thermal (9.102 MWmed) plants fell, respectively, by -3,3% and -6,3%.
