The President of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), stated this Monday (1st) that the Legislative Branch has been working intensively to expand the use of clean energy in Brazil, through the production, distribution and encouragement of new renewable technologies.
According to him, the House has been keeping pace with society's demands thanks to ongoing dialogue with the various sectors involved. The statement was made during the 14th edition of the Northeast Forum, held in Recife, Pernambuco.
"In one of the greatest challenges of our time, the energy transition, we are ahead of the world. And this doesn't mean we should sit back, but rather, that we should seize this advantage," said the Speaker of the House.
During the event, the parliamentarian highlighted projects and laws already approved with the support of Parliament, such as legal framework for microgeneration and distributed minigeneration, the legal framework of low carbon hydrogen, the law that regulates the exploitation of offshore energy potential, and what instituted the Patent (Energy Transition Acceleration Program).
Last week, the Chamber of Deputies approved a bill that facilitates credit for family farmers to invest in solar energy systems. The text was forwarded to the Senate.
“Regarding ethanol and biofuels, it is also worth mentioning the Constitutional Amendment 123, of 2022, which established the competitiveness differential in favor of biofuels; and the Future Fuel Law, of 2024, which, among other things, established the mandatory percentage of alcohol in gasoline,” he added.
Motta also noted that investments in logistics, such as Transnordestina, expand the Northeast Region's competitive potential and reinforce its ability to assume a leading role in clean energy generation.
Projects in progress
In the second half of 2025, projects such as the PL 2098 / 2025, which encourages renewable microgeneration for farmers and fishermen, and the PL 221 / 2025, which creates a fund to finance solar and wind energy on small rural properties.
Also in the process are the PL 1401 / 2025, which encourages the installation of solar energy and other sustainable sources; and the PL 497 / 2025, which grants tax incentives for electric mobility infrastructure and renewable energy generation.
