ABIAPE (Brazilian Association of Investors in Self-Production of Energy) has signed an agreement with BBCE (Brazilian Energy Trading Platform) to incorporate market indicators into its studies and analyses.
The partnership will allow the entity to use the BBCE Forward Curve, an indicator built from deals effectively closed on the BBCE EHUB platform, expanding the information base available for monitoring the energy market and supporting its members.
The Forward Curve gathers prices formed based on real transactions and provides daily updates.
The transactions carried out on the platform's systems generate around R$ 90 billion per year, involving energy contracts to be delivered in different regions of the country and originating from various generation sources.
The tool is used as a benchmark for long-term energy negotiations by banks, consultancies, and public institutions.
Among the users mentioned are ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), EPE (Energy Research Company), CCEE (Electric Energy Trading Chamber) and MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy), in addition to more than 200 companies that trade assets and derivatives in the BBCE environment.
According to ABIAPE's president, Mario Menel, access to this information should enhance the association's ability to monitor market behavior.
The organization intends to use the data and price references to improve its studies and analyses and to support its work in defending the interests of its members.
Reference
The Forward Curve covers different energy sources and regions in Brazil and presents prices from the current month up to 21 years into the future.
The indicator also allows for adjustments related to seasonality, including fluctuations caused by harvest periods, an aspect that is especially relevant for the pricing of sources such as biomass.
According to BBCE CEO Camila Batich, making quality data available contributes to increasing the security, transparency, and liquidity of the free market.
Eduardo Rossetti, executive director of Products and Institutional Relations at the platform, points out that the indicator serves as a benchmark because it reflects contracts and transactions that have actually been negotiated, offering agents a basis for buying, selling, and investment decisions.
According to BBCE data, in 2025, approximately R$ 90 billion was traded on its systems, distributed across roughly 80 transactions and 400 GWh.
The company acts as an over-the-counter administrator authorized by the CVM (Securities and Exchange Commission of Brazil) and connects banks, generators, self-producers, traders, and large energy consumers.
