The storm that occurred on October 11, together with the impacts caused by falling trees, set off a warning signal. This is because a new weather event, with forecasts of rain, wind gusts of up to 80 km/h and hail, is expected for this weekend, between October 18th and 21st.

Yesterday (17), ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) gathered distributors, transmitters, Civil Defense and Fire Department to discuss an action plan to minimize the impacts of the passage of the cold front.
The measures include mobilizing emergency response teams; providing generators; preparing crisis rooms; mobilizing the city government to prune trees; sending out alerts and newsletters to the population on social media, WhatsApp, SMS, portals, and other communication channels. In addition, call center teams will be on standby to serve the population.
Representatives from the following distributors participated in the meeting: Enel SP, Neoenergia Elektro, EDP São Paulo, Energia Sul-Sudeste, CPFL Piratininga, CPFL Paulista, CPFL Santa Cruz, and representatives from the transmission companies ISA CTEEP and Eletrobras Sudeste.
The expectation is that the following areas will be affected: metropolitan region of the capital of São Paulo, Baixada Santista, Vale do Paraíba, northern coast, Serra da Mantiqueira, regions of Campinas, Sorocaba, Araçatuba, São José do Rio Preto, Bauru, Araraquara, Franca, Barretos and Ribeirão Preto, Vale do Ribeira and regions of Itapeva, Presidente Prudente and Marília.
A ENEL SP has already announced that it will maintain its emergency plan, with the mobilization of 2.400 professionals to respond to any incidents. In addition, the distributor will reinforce its service channels and, to deal with critical cases, will make 500 generators available for essential services, such as hospitals.
Already CPFL Paulista released a list of precautions that the population should take over the weekend:
- If trees fall onto the power grid, stay away from the wires and, if possible, mark the location so that other people do not approach;
- Do not face bad weather, quickly find a safe place to take shelter;
- Do not park cars near transmission towers, trees or advertising signs;
- Vehicles are the best shelters against lightning;
- If a power cable falls on your car, do not attempt to get out of or approach the vehicle;
- Unplug electrical appliances to avoid damage from electrical discharges;
- Never use electrical appliances during a storm or stay in places with water and humidity.
