The replacement of combustion cars with electric cars is increasingly becoming a global trend. According to report released by BNEF (BloombergNEF), EVs (electric vehicles) will account for 10% of sales in 2025, with this number increasing to 28% in 2030 and 58% in 2040.

Following this premise, and as part of plans to have half of its fleet operating with clean and sustainable energy by 2023, the Ambev brewery announced that it has entered into a partnership with the Brazilian startup FNM (Fábrica Nacional de Mobilidades) and with the national automaker Agrale to produce thousand electric vehicles, including trucks and vans.

According to the beverage manufacturer, each vehicle will contribute to the reduction of 126 kilograms of CO₂ per year. The pilot vehicle will operate delivery routes in Rio de Janeiro, with a range of up to 100 kilometers per day. In the case of refueling, this will be done at charging points in the company's distribution centers, which use photovoltaic solar energy. Ambev, which has a total fleet of around 5.300 trucks, plans to reduce CO₂ emissions across its entire chain by 25% by 2025.

Ambev invests in renewables

The company also signed a partnership with solar energy companies in Minas Gerais and will make available to bars and restaurants in Minas Gerais clean, renewable energy and up to 15% cheaper than they currently pay. In December, it also inaugurated the first solar plant in Goiás. The plant will supply Ambev's four direct distribution centers located in the region.

The panels installed in the shape of the Budweiser beer symbol are distributed over an area of 4 thousand m² with 340 kWp of power. Furthermore, it announced that it is investing in startup Lemon Energia, which connects photovoltaic and wind plants to the energy distribution network.
