With over two decades of experience in the electricity sector, Atiaia Renováveis announced its entry into the distributed generation market through the launch of LIVREE, a new brand focused on supplying photovoltaic solar energy to residential and commercial consumers.
The service allows consumers to reduce their electricity bills without having to invest in equipment or carry out any type of installation. The energy is generated in Atiaia's own solar plants and passed on to the customer through energy credits, in a shared generation model.
“With this initiative, Atiaia expands its customer base, offering access to renewable energy and contributing to the democratization of the use of clean energy,” said Rodrigo Assunção, the company’s president, in a press release.
LIVREE will initially operate in the states of Pernambuco and Mato Grosso, where the company already operates distributed solar plants. The expectation is to offer consumers savings of up to 20% on their electricity bills.
The business model adopted by Atiaia follows a growing trend in Brazil. According to the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL), there are already more than 13,6 thousand plants operating in the shared solar generation mode, serving more than 500 thousand consumer units throughout the country.
Furthermore, the distributed generation segment as a whole has been growing rapidly. Over the past five years, the number of photovoltaic systems installed on residential and commercial rooftops has exceeded 2,8 million. Together, distributed generation plants now account for almost 40 gigawatts (GW) of installed power in Brazil.
