Between ambitious goals and the reality of a sector undergoing transformation, Auren Energia begins 2025 reaping the fruits of a planned growth process of strategic decisions taken in recent years.
After the merger with AES Brasil, the company presents results that indicate not only expansion, but also adaptation to the new energy market scenario.
Auren Energia ended the first quarter of 2025 with an adjusted EBITDA of R$1,2 billion, the highest since the company's creation. The result represents a 66% jump compared to the stable performance of Auren and AES Brasil in the same period last year.
The company recorded net revenue of R$3 billion in the first quarter, representing a 34% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Net income reached R$54 million. According to the company, the main driver of the result was the generation segment, which contributed R$1,1 billion to adjusted EBITDA.
The production of 3,8 GW on average, 30,8% above that recorded in the same period of the previous year, was driven by hydroelectric and wind assets, in addition to the entry into operation of new projects, such as the Tucano and Cajuína wind complexes and the Sol do Jaíba solar plant.
The company sold an average of 4,9 GW of energy, generating a configured EBITDA of R$165 million in this sector. The synergies in operating costs have already brought savings of R$56 million in the first quarter.
“The good result of the quarter is a demonstration of the level of operational excellence of the platform that Auren has built over the years and consolidated with the acquisition of AES Brasil,” said Fabio Zanfelice, executive at Auren Energy.
By April, the company had cut R$2 billion from its gross debt. One of the milestones in this process was the second debenture issuance worth R$2 billion, in addition to the extraordinary amortization of R$3,2 billion of the bridge loan used for the acquisition of AES Brasil, equivalent to 59% of the R$5,4 billion acquisition finance, a bridge loan issued for the acquisition of AES Brasil.
“The partial prepayment contributed to the reduction of gross debt, in addition to resulting in the extension of the term and the reduction of the average cost of debt, ensuring efficient capital management,” said Mateus Ferreira, Vice President of Finance and Investor Relations at Auren Energia.
