The energy storage sector in Brazil will gain momentum with the implementation of 400 MWh in BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) systems over the next three years, aimed exclusively at the C&I (Commercial and Industrial) market.
The estimated investment is R$500 million and includes applications such as energy arbitration, tariff optimization, resilience, backup, and supply quality support. The initiative is the result of a partnership between Sungrow and MOBS Armazenagem de Energia e Mobilidade and TCCOM Comercializadora de Energia, both part of the Roca Group.
According to those involved, the project aims to accelerate the strategic use of batteries on a large scale in the country for medium and large companies. TCCOM, a qualified marketer ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), will be responsible for prospecting and structuring the projects, while the agreement also provides for engineering, commissioning and O&M (Operation and Maintenance) services.
“We believe this partnership leverages the maturity of the Brazilian electricity sector towards a cleaner and more efficient future,” said Rafael Ribeiro, Country Manager of Sungrow in Brazil, while Roberto Stadler, CEO of Grupo Roca, pointed out that the agreement helps the country in creating “a robust ecosystem for the C&I market”.
