ePowerBay released this week its monthly ranking of the best-performing solar power plants in Brazil, thus concluding the results for the first two months of the year. While January was led by assets located in Pernambuco, February highlighted projects in Minas Gerais.

The survey considers operational data released by CCEE (Chamber of Electric Energy Commercialization) and analyzes the monthly performance of power plants based on the capacity factor – an indicator that relates the energy actually generated to the maximum production potential.

In January, the Ibimirim 4 plant in Pernambuco led the way with a performance of 32,26%. Following closely were Ibimirim 1 (32,17%) and Ibimirim 3 (32,05%), reinforcing the complex's leading role in the state.

Already in February, the top of the ranking was occupied by the Arinos 20 plant in Minas Gerais, with 29,43%, and Arinos 18, with 29,33%. The projects belong to Newave Energia, in partnership with Gerdau.

Subsequently, the ranking again shows a strong presence of plants from Ibimirim, with performances ranging between 29,18% and 28,68%.

Focus on performance draws attention.

Another point that stands out in the survey is the recurrence of certain companies among the best-performing assets in the two-month period.

Throughout the two months, only four companies appear repeatedly among the ten best-positioned plants, indicating a concentration of performance in certain groups and projects.

In addition to the Ibimirim and Arinos solar parks, the ranking also includes a plant from the Belmonte complex (MG) and another from the Luiz Gonzaga complex (PE), both listed in January.

Back in February, the ranking was concentrated between the Arinos and Ibimirim complexes. According to data from the ePowerBay report, there are currently around 823 centralized generation (CG) solar power plants in operation in Brazil.
