The Chinese company with national headquarters in Campinas, BYD, reached the mark of 1 GW of photovoltaic modules sold. With this, the company shows its important participation in the national market, which has approximately 3 GW of modules installed. Focused on the centralized generation market during 2017 and 2018, BYD now has a large share in the distributed generation market, selling its products through distributors recognized in the market.
“A large part of the emerging solar market in Brazil opted for BYD products due to their quality, technology and delivery capacity. Having reached almost ⅓ of the national market is proof of our excellence”, informed the company's commercial manager.
Along with the announcement, the company highlights the importance of its research and development projects. One of these projects implemented was the construction, in 2017 in partnership with Alsol, of a 400 kW plant with a storage capacity of 1,36 MWh in the city of Uberlândia.
“BYD invested in creating the largest and best R&D laboratory for solar generation technologies in Latin America. By the end of 2019, the laboratory will be completed and then donated to UNICAMP, in order to become a reference for research and innovation in Brazil”, informed sustainability director Adalberto Maluf.
The company, established in Brazil in 2015 with the production of electric vehicles, expanded its manufacturing capacity in 2017 to bring the manufacture of high-quality national photovoltaic modules.
