Photovoltaic module manufacturer BYD recorded a 40% increase in the sale of solar panels in the second half of 2020, compared to the same period in 2019. Production at the factory, located in Campinas (SP), increased by 100% in the period. “In addition to the 100% increase in production this semester, there is a prospect of much greater growth from the prospecting of new customers for the following year”, highlighted Marcelo Taborda, commercial manager at BYD do Brasil. Also according to Taborda, the high investments in R&D (research and development) and Laboratory Development carried out by BYD exceeded R$30 million. “Aiming to expand the market expected for 2021, BYD has already developed plans for a significant increase in its production capacity to meet the demand of new customers,” stated Taborda. According to Adalberto Maluf, BYD's director of marketing and sustainability, the company's goal is to double the sale of national panels in 2021 and grow 50% in the sale of imported panels. The manufacturer serves approximately 150 active customers in the country, who demanded a total volume of 800 MW between national and imported modules in 2020.
