The roof of a church in Goiânia (GO) collapsed this Wednesday (19) after the metal structure collapsed during the installation of a solar energy system.

The suspicion is that the roof could not support the weight of the photovoltaic panels, but only an inspection on site will confirm the circumstances of the accident.

Five workers were providing services to install the technology at the time of the incident and did not fall with the structure, but were trapped in the upper part of the temple and awaited rescue by firefighters.

One of them was taken to hospital after suffering minor injuries, while the others did not require medical attention.

To avoid any dangerous movement in the church structure, the rescue was carried out by the Fire Department with the help of a ladder truck. The structure of the religious temple was severely compromised.

“Fortunately, no one was buried. Everyone who was on the roof at the time was an operator installing the panels,” said Captain Guilherme, from CBMGO (Military Fire Department of the State of Goiás), in an interview with TV Anhanguera.

On social media, Aluízio Silva, president of the Videira Church, said that the faithful are “perplexed” by what happened. He asked for prayers and highlighted the relief that no one was seriously injured.

“We are working on this project to install photovoltaic energy and, apparently, the roof could not support the weight of these panels, which caused the collapse of our building, which is completely destroyed. We will have to build another building,” he said.

Just to add, which in my opinion is already excellent. It is always good to have a civil engineer involved in addition to the electrical engineer, for inspections and assessments of the structural part. It is a partnership that works very well, in my opinion…

In the Eagerness and Need to Make SALES, the Integrator Insists on Disregarding an Inspection with a Report, Well Done, and Thus Directly and Indirectly, Assuming Responsibilities, in the Legal Sphere, Which Could Complicate His Life, and Even Occur Deaths, Because Working at Height Is of Extremely High Risk, Responding in a Serious Manner, in the Criminal Sphere. Thus, Complicating His Life and the Life of the Company!!

It is not worth it. Life, integrity and integrity are above any value.
