Clamper, a leader in surge protection solutions, presented its portfolio of products for the solar energy market at Intersolar South America. Among the highlights was the CLAMPER Front V – with an operating voltage compatible with 800 V – for protecting photovoltaic inverters.

One of the advantages of the product – which is a DPS (Surge Protection Device) – is that, as with the entire Front product line, at the end of its useful life, only the mobile part (plug) needs to be replaced, and there is no need to undo the connections of the fixed part (base) with the cables. This feature offers practicality and savings for installers and users.

“The 800 V CLAMPER Front V is applicable to the AC (alternating current) side, in addition to being mounted on a single tetrapolar base, so the product comes already assembled and configured to be installed directly, with no need to associate monopolar DPS to protect your inverter”, explained Douglas Lara, Clamper's Application Engineering coordinator.

Another solution on display at the company's stand was the DPS CLAMPER Solar. In the 150 V, 300 V, 600 V, 1040 V and 1500 V voltage versions, the product has a high capacity feature to protect the components of the photovoltaic system, in DC (direct current), and especially the inverter, against electrical surges and lightning.

In addition, Clamper brought to the event its protection solutions assembled in boxes, prepared for direct installation in the field, with several input and output options according to the installation needs – with emphasis this year on the CLAMPER Solar Box 12E/12S model.

“This protection box does not have a sectioning element. It is a box where we have the DPS already integrated, and we can protect up to 12 strings at once. The product is completely transparent, it is in parallel with the system, and if any DPS reaches the end of its useful life, it does not impact the generation that is taking place”, said Diogo Xavier, Clamper’s Product Coordinator.

CLAMPER Solar CB

The CLAMPER Solar CB was another solution presented by the manufacturer at the fair. The Combiner Box combines protection against electrical surges together with features for plants operating at voltages of up to 1500 V.cc.

Available in models with up to 24 inputs, the product is compatible with central inverters. According to the company, this configuration of multiple inputs in parallel allows the current from the photovoltaic modules to be added together, resulting in a single output in the order of hundreds of amps.

“CLAMPER Solar CB is unique because it offers fuse protection, a disconnect switch and protection against electrical surges – provided by a DPS that reaches up to 1500 V of direct current – in addition to the possibility of working with monitoring of these boxes. Thus, it is possible to monitor critical electrical parameters, such as temperature, current and input voltage of each string, for example”, pointed out Xavier.

“It is important to note that all of our SPDs are certified according to IEC 61643-11 for AC SPDs and IEC 61643-31 for DC (direct current) SPDs,” added Douglas.

CLAMPER's Product Coordinator also emphasized that the solutions they offer to the market are 100% manufactured in Brazil, have an IP65 protection rating and are resistant to UV radiation. "Our products also meet the requirements for non-flame propagation, ensuring even greater safety."

Customer service and market presence

CLAMPER stated that it stands out not only for the quality of its products, but also for the differentiated service it offers. According to Diogo Xavier,The company has a highly qualified team to serve customers, whether by email, WhatsApp, phone or Instagram.

“The difference that I add in relation to support is that The client is talking directly to the developer and the manufacturer. It is not a lay service, our support team is made up of technicians and engineers”, he pointed out.

“In fact, we also have the RA 1000 seal on Reclame Aqui – which highlights companies that have excellent service rates,” he added Mariana Ribeiro, Marketing Manager at CLAMPER.

“We have more than 32 years on the market As experts and leaders in DPS, our solutions are manufactured in Brazil and come with a six-year warranty. In addition, We are certified according to ISO 9001 (quality) and ISO 14001 (environmental) standards, we have a highly qualified R&D (Research and Development) team, own laboratory – the largest in Latin America and the Southern Hemisphere for DPS testing and we are present in more than 26 countries”, concluded Mariana.
