Market consultant Comerc Energia and manager Perfin Asset announced this Wednesday (24) the creation of Sou Vagalume, a digital platform that allows you to sign up for a solar energy subscription without bureaucracy and without investing in solar panels.

The strategy is to consolidate a portfolio with more than 150 thousand customers by the end of 2022. So that I'm Vagalume could get off the ground, more than R$750 million was invested in the construction of 34 solar plants.

“We started the operation in Minas Gerais, where we have a large volume of investments, but we want to spread this community throughout Brazil”, added Josiane Palomino, CEO of the platform.

The initiative presented is aimed at small and medium-sized commercial and residential consumers in Minas Gerais who are interested in adopting solar energy, but do not meet the minimum requirements for migration to the free market or do not have sufficient initial capital to install the equipment.

By joining solar communities, the platform's customer starts consuming solar energy produced on farms spread across several cities in Minas Gerais and, through shared generation, this energy is distributed through credits on consumers' electricity bills. Subscribing to the platform is similar to a streaming service: a 100% digital process, with no need for initial investment and no loyalty.

Forecasts

According to data from the ABSOLAR (Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy), this year will be even more prosperous for solar energy. According to the association's estimate, the sum of new private investments in distributed generation and centralized generation could exceed R$22,6 billion this year.

In 2020, the volume of investments reached a record R$13 billion, a growth of 52% in eight years, generating 86 thousand new jobs and more than R$38 billion in business. Last year, the solar photovoltaic market contributed more than R$3,9 billion in revenue to public coffers, an increase of more than 50% in relation to the total collected between 2012 and 2019.
