In recent years, the global energy transition has reached a new phase with the evolution of the concept of 4D energy to 10D energy. This advancement reflects the increasing complexity and interconnectedness of energy systems, while highlighting the essential role of energy storage to make this transformation possible.

4D energy, based on the pillars of decarbonization, decentralization, digitalization and diversification, was a milestone for proposing more sustainable and affordable solutions. However, the increasing demands for efficiency, flexibility and integration required a step further.

Then comes the concept of 10D energy, which expands these pillars with new elements: democratization of renewable sources, greater durability of infrastructures, dynamism for real-time adaptation, intensive use of big data and artificial intelligence, user-centered design, and a commitment to environmental performance throughout the production chain.

In this context, energy storage is consolidating itself as a central technology. It not only balances the generation and consumption of intermittent sources, such as solar and wind, but also enables electric mobility, with high-capacity batteries and smarter charging systems.

Furthermore, it enables fluid integration between different sectors, such as energy and transportation, and offers off-grid solutions, transforming remote communities by ensuring reliable access to energy.

Brazil, with its abundance of natural resources and leading role in the use of clean energy sources, has a unique opportunity to lead this transition. However, there are challenges to be faced, such as high costs, insufficient public policies and lack of scalability.

Encouraging local battery production and investing in innovation are essential steps to position the country as a global reference and accelerate the adoption of large-scale storage.

The transition from 4D to 10D energy is not just a technological evolution, but an opportunity to reshape the future of society. Energy storage connects sustainability ideals with practical solutions for a more efficient and interconnected world.

As an executive in the sector, I am optimistic about the role of Brazilian and global companies in leading this transformation. We are facing a unique moment to transform challenges into solutions that will shape the future of energy – and, consequently, of society.

The 10D energy is already knocking on the door. The big question is: are we ready to open it?
