The entry of Cogerh (Water Resources Management Company) of Ceará into the Free Energy Market has already begun to show concrete results.
In the first four months of operation under this new contracting model, the company recorded savings of R$ 2,5 million, an amount that represents a significant reduction in electricity costs.
The migration was made possible after the signing of a contract with the energy trading company Matrix. Since July, 32 consumer units of Cogerh – including pumping stations and lift stations – have started purchasing energy in the free contracting environment.
These units account for more than 90% of the company's total energy consumption. Among the main structures that have migrated to the Free Energy Market are the Castanhão, Gavião, EB-1, EB-2, Pecém, São Pedro, Brotas and Pedra Preta pumping stations, as well as the EE-0, EE-1 and EE-2 pumping stations.
The economy is growing month by month.
The savings achieved by the company through the migration to the Free Energy Market showed consistent growth over the first few months. In July, the first month of operation in this environment, Cogerh saved R$ 393,8 – a decrease of 17,10% compared to what it would have spent in the regulated market.
In August, savings increased to R$ 760,7, with a 23,95% reduction in costs. In September, the amount saved reached R$ 802,9, equivalent to a 24,32% decrease in electricity expenses.
In October, savings amounted to approximately R$ 530, representing a 17,28% reduction in energy expenses for units operating in the Free Energy Market.
