O volume produced in painéis solares installed in GD (distributed generation) already accounts for 4,3% of all consumption in the regulated market, according to a survey by CCEE (Electricity Trading Chamber) to the Reuters Agency.

According to the numbers, in the first half of this year, plants installed in homes, businesses and industries produced 1.828 average MW to growth of 80% compared to the same period last year.

CCEE considers that all this volume generated was consumed, corresponding to the 4,3% of total consumption of 42.600 average MW in the regulated market in the period.

“On the one hand we have the growing demand from society for more sustainability and on the other, a large appetite from investors, making this market even more attractive”, said the president of the CCEE Board of Directors, Rui Altieri.

Installed power

.In terms of installed capacity, solar DG reached 11.315 MW in the country. The power achieved in the first half of the year represents an addition of more than 2 GW compared to the 9 GW at the end of 2021, highlighting the accelerated adoption of a technology that, four years ago, had not even surpassed the 1 GW mark

According to Altieri, GD solar has become increasingly relevant in the national matrix and will continue to expand its representation over the next few years.

Centralized generation

The president of the CCEE Board of Directors also assesses that solar energy has also been growing through centralized photovoltaic generation.

In the first half of the year, these projects produced an average of 1.207 MW of energy, around 64% higher year-on-year.

“Large solar farms are also behind distributed generation in terms of power, totaling just over 5 GW in the country”, he concluded.
