INEL creates board to expand efforts towards the approval of PL 5829

Carlos Toledo and Tarcísio Dário take over in the Center-West with the goal of attracting new partners and defending the PL

Intensify institutional action in the region and expand actions and efforts to vote and approve PL 5829, which aims to create the legal framework for DG (distributed generation) and could democratize photovoltaic solar in the country.

These are the goals of INEL (National Clean Energy Institute), which established, on July 14, the board of directors for the Central-West region, headed by Carlos Toledo, a businessman in the solar sector, and Tarcísio Dário, executive director of Horus Telecom, who is taking on the role of deputy director. According to the institute, the executives are taking on the challenge of leading the project at a decisive moment for the Brazilian electricity sector, in the face of the worst water crisis in the last ninety years.

For Toledo, this water shortage has a negative impact on the electrical system, with the risk of rationing and blackouts, in addition to the increase in electricity rates that weigh on consumers. “In this context, developing the clean energy market is essential, as it represents a sustainable, renewable and cheaper solution to the crisis and, above all, to the balance of the national energy system by diversifying its matrix,” he explained.

According to Dário, the country needs to modernize the energy segment in Brazil to ensure competitiveness in the productive sector, generate more jobs, income and development. He also stated that regulation was necessary to correct distortions and eliminate market reservation and monopoly.

Heber Galarce, president of INEL, highlighted the importance of the work of the two new directors, especially in the institutional and legislative spheres, with the current obstruction in the Chamber of Deputies of the vote on Bill 5829. “The Midwest board will be another important arm to join efforts in favor of the photovoltaic market, with the objective of making viable and speeding up the vote on the bill that is of great importance not only for the clean energy sector and the national electrical system, but for the entire Brazilian economy,” he emphasized.
