An area with a history of landfill, located in the Santa Cruz neighborhood, in Rio de Janeiro - RJ), will be transformed into a 7 MWp solar power plant.
The photovoltaic project is scheduled to be completed in the second half of this year by the companies MRT Solar and AE Solar and replicates a similar solution that is already successfully used in Curitiba (PR).
The Paraná plant in question was implemented in March 2023 at the Caximba landfill, with 8,6 thousand solar panels, as reported by Canal Solar. Find out more by clicking here
The technology used includes a support structure that does not require driving into the ground, respecting the environmental conditions of the area and minimizing impacts on the soil. The project uses 9.310 photovoltaic modules with HJT technology.
“In addition to reducing the carbon footprint, we promote the valorization of areas previously considered problematic. We believe that this model can be replicated in other states, contributing to a greener energy matrix in Brazil,” said Mauricio Barros, CEO of MTR Solar.
The construction of solar power plants in landfills is still little explored in Brazil, with very few plants being developed due to the complexity of a project with these characteristics.
