O MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) sent the ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) a series of reports that will subsidize the upcoming auctions of installations electrical energy transmission in the country.

The studies carried out by EPE (Energy Research Company) recommend approximately 6.000 km of new transmission lines e 11 new substations Basic Network. They are estimated investments of R$ 17,5 billion.

The majority of investments are related to the reports that make up the “Generation Flow Study of the Northeast Region, volumes 1, 2 and 3”, developed by EPE to propose structural reinforcements in the SIN (National Interconnected System).

The material helps to solve local restrictions for connecting future generation projects, expand exchange capacity between the North/Northeast and Southeast/Central-West regions and increase reliability in serving the load.

According to the Authority, the completion of the projects will enable consumers to make better use of the potential for renewable, clean and low-cost generation in these regions of the country.

Next Steps

Once the reports are made available by the MME, the ANEEL must begin the process of instructing transmission auctions for such projects, which includes future stages of public consultation and evaluation by the TCU (Federal Court of Auditors).

In this way, these transmission facilities will be able to participate in the transmission auction 03/2023, expected to be held in December this year, according to the schedule of the contests subject to Normative Ordinance No. 58/GM/MME, of December 21, 2022.
