The new deputy director of ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), Ivo Secho Nazareno, took office at the public meeting this Tuesday (15). Then the regulator's Auctions Secretary, he was chosen for the mission at the top, succeeding Ludimila Silva, who also served as deputy director for a period of 180 days, which will be the same as Nazareno.
the situation of ANEEL, which, like other regulatory agencies, was hit by the cuts imposed in a recent Executive Branch decree, is uncertain. Of the five directors, two are replacements—in addition to Nazareno, former Secretary-General Daniel Danna has held the post since May, following the departure of Ricardo Tili.
The reason is political. With the crisis between the government and the National Congress, appointments to regulatory agencies have stalled. Because nominees must undergo a Senate hearing, the government has been slamming the brakes since the end of 2024. After the IOF crisis earlier this month, any move in this direction was seen as risky, due to senators' eagerness to appoint their preferred candidates.
the minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, however, indicated Gentil Nogueira and Willamy Moreira Frota for the vacancies in ANEEL. Nogueira is number two in the ministry, while Frota is the former president of Amazonas Energia.
The hearings are scheduled for August, after the parliamentary recess. In addition to the names for the ANEEL, the Senator must evaluate nominations for the ANP (National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels), Anatel (National Telecommunications Agency) and Antaq (National Waterway Transportation Agency).
After six months, Ludimila Silva leaves the board of directors ANEEL
The documents listing the names were published in the Official Gazette of the Union this Tuesday. Silveira is an enemy of Senate President Davi Alcolumbre, who has repeatedly called for the resignation of President Lula's aide.
