The ONS (National Electric System Operator) and Axia Energia (formerly Eletrobras) signed a technical cooperation agreement for the development and implementation of SGCOPHI (Hydraulic Operational Conditions Management System).

The new tool aims to improve the database related to the hydraulic limitations of hydroelectric power plants in... without (National Interconnected System).

To achieve this, the system will incorporate new technological solutions, making the process of providing information that supports the planning, programming, and operation of the electrical system more agile and structured. The expectation is that SGCOPHI will be available from the beginning of 2028.

The development of the platform is part of the scope of the PRR (Reservoir Recovery Plan), which brings together a set of actions aimed at strengthening the country's water and energy security. The plan is coordinated by the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy).

“The development of this agreement represents an important step towards promoting actions that integrate technology, planning, and intelligent water management. We are creating the conditions for a more robust operation, capable of responding to current challenges and preparing the electrical system for the future,” highlighted Marcio Rea, Director-General of ONS.

According to the institutions, SGCOPHI will allow for greater efficiency in the registration and management of the rules and conditions that must be observed in the operation of hydroelectric plants, including aspects related to the multiple uses of water in different river basins.

The expectation is that the tool will contribute to more accurate decisions, greater operational predictability, and better use of water resources within the national electricity system.
