ONS (National Electric System Operator) classified the probability of activating the Energy Surplus Management Plan again this Sunday (30) as medium, given the expectation of a period of reduced load in the SIN (National Interconnected System).
According to the operator, the measure can be adopted when, even after the reduction in generation coordinated by the ONS (National System Operator), there is still a need to restrict the production of energy connected to distribution networks in order to maintain the balance between generation and consumption.
The decision will be made on Saturday (29), during the operation schedule for the following day. Until then, the technical teams will continue to monitor the system conditions.
The plan is activated in scenarios where the energy supply remains above the available load, even after reduction measures have been applied to power plants directly coordinated by the ONS (National System Operator).
In these situations, the operator can encroach on sources connected to distribution networks, with the aim of preserving the stability of the electrical system during periods of low demand.
The possibility of a new activation arises just one week after the mechanism was used in... Sunday (23).
At the time, the ONS (National System Operator) had already reduced production from the power plants under its control. Since these measures were insufficient to balance generation and load, it was also necessary to restrict sources connected to the distribution networks. This mechanism had already been activated in... June 7also during a period of low demand.
If the plan is confirmed to be used this Sunday, it will be the third time in less than three months that the ONS (National System Operator) has resorted to the mechanism to manage surplus energy in the system.
The operator also stated that, should the plan be activated, it will subsequently release information related to the operation and the measures taken.
