A Klabin has just opened in Paranagua (PR), One solar plant built at the port terminal of the city. A Bonö Energy was the company responsible for executing the project.
According to the company, this is the first photovoltaic energy operation built inside a port terminal in Brazil. The enterprise, which has a average generation of 22.483 kWh/month, will provide a electricity cost reduction of the order of R $ 100 thousand per year.
In total, we used 508 555 Wp photovoltaic modules from WEG for the construction of the system, which has 281,94 kWp. Solar energy generation reinforces Klabin's commitment to its ESG agenda and is estimated to avoid emissions of 11,5 tons of CO2 per year.
“The company's presence in a port terminal with the most modern energy generation technology reinforces how Klabin values innovation, always linked to sustainability”, stated Francisco Razzolini, director of Industrial Technology, Innovation and Sustainability at Klabin .
“It was an innovative project for Bonö, as it brought a different perspective on processes and procedures that we had not yet worked on, that of port terminals”, highlighted Vitor Ferrari, CEO of Bonö Energia.
“In our works, we are used to following safety standards, but the port terminal has taken us to another level in terms of construction safety. We developed the project down to the smallest detail, including using hot-dip galvanized metal structures, to avoid corrosion caused by sea air and increase the useful life of the material”, he added.
Ferrari also commented that maintenance training was developed so that Klabin's own team can keep the photovoltaic modules clean and protected against the effects caused by salt air.
“The panels must always be clean to guarantee the best efficiency in solar energy generation, and in this project, we included training for the Klabin team so that this solar plant is always at its best performance”, he concluded.
