In an interview with Bloomberg, Chambriard explained that renewable sources such as solar and wind will only be a priority for the PetroBrazil after 2035. According to her, the next ten years will be focused on "fossil molecules," although there are parallel plans to resume ethanol production, with a corn ethanol project already under development.
"We're dividing this future up to 2050: the next decade and what comes after that. Until 2035, molecules [biofuels] will definitely be our priority. From 2035 onward, there's a range of energy sources," she said in an interview with Bloomberg. "We believe that solar, wind, and hydrogen will also be more important to us from 2035 onward," she emphasized.
The strategy of the current administration of PetroThis contrasts sharply with the previous administration of Jean Paul Prates, which favored the expansion of renewable energy sources. Prates had even announced plans for offshore wind energy production and initiatives to promote green hydrogen in the country.
Despite this, Chambriard highlighted that PetroBrazil is not a "denier" and is attentive to changes in the global market. highlighting that R$16,5 billion will be invested by the company in renewable fuels, such as ethanol, biodiesel and biogas, without detailing the projects. Regarding the transition in the automotive sector, she assessed that hybrid vehicles should dominate the Brazilian market, increasing the demand for ethanol.
