The second auction of electricity transmission lines will be held on December 15, the director general of ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), Sandoval Feitosa. Initially, the event, with investments of R$19,7 billion, was scheduled for October.

In a press conference held last Friday (30), after the first transmission auction, which ended with all lots being auctioned, Feitosa explained the change of date.

“The next auction will probably be on December 15th and the next one in March (2024). Why was there this spacing? I think the success we had in today's auction is part of the reason we separated ourselves from auctions. We have a set of works worth close to R$60 billion,” he said.

“It is a challenging execution capacity, both from the point of view of suppliers, labor, the state agencies themselves have to analyze this documentation, the environment, the agency itself, the ministry also has some REIDI analyses, some aspects in this sense , which could result in empty lots or lots with low competitiveness and then result in delays, which are no longer a reality in the electricity sector today. I think it was very sensible to postpone these auctions. This change occurs in mutual agreement with the planner,” he added.

O first transmission auction ended with an average discount of 51%, resulting in savings for consumers of R$39,2 billion over the 30 years of the concession. The consortiums Gênesis, Engie Brasil Transmissão and the companies CTEEP, Furnas, Cymi Construções e Participações, Rialma Administração e Participações and Celeo Redes Brasil were the winners.

In the view of the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, also present at the collective), the result of the auction is the result of well-executed planning. “The success of this auction only happened because we are careful with the timing of the auction. It is important that there is urgency, but there is no precipitation, because we need to be competitive, dialogue with investors, both national and international, demonstrate with transparency what the projects are, so that we are not only successful in the auction, but in the execution and delivery of transmission lines, which is our main objective”.

The third broadcast auction moved from December to March 2024.
