Looking to the future with a perspective focused on technology and innovation. With this objective, Cemig developed an R&D (Research and Development) project called Technological prospecting in the electricity sector.
The project was conceived at Apine (Association of Independent Electricity Producers) and brought together major players around the development of a vision of the future for the Brazilian electricity sector.
“There is a consensus among experts that, for these objectives to be achieved, investment in technological development and the promotion of an innovative culture are essential”, said Cláudio Homero, technology and innovation engineer and Cemig's technical representative on the project.
“Due to its scope and depth, it can even be said that it is one of the most complex and complete research panels produced in the world, dedicated to a specific segment”, highlighted Homero.
According to Cemig, the main objectives were to develop the current diagnosis of STI (science, technology and innovation) in five major themes: generation, transmission, distribution, energy efficiency and systemic issues; investigate trends and build a vision of the future with a macro and STI strategy until 2035; prepare a roadmap per group and an agenda for STI actions in the short, medium and long terms; in addition to proposing product consolidation and validation with key players in the electricity sector.
Homero also highlighted that technological prospecting work contributes to increasing the success of research and development projects within the scope of the R&D program. ANEEL, which aim precisely to improve services provided to the population by companies in the sector, in terms of energy availability and quality, cost reduction, sustainability and inclusion, for example.
For Ceres Cavalcanti, project coordinator, the study developed some important tools to achieve its results. “One of them is the calculator to help estimate technological maturity. This tool helps to identify themes, lines and routes of research, bearers of the future and also those most promising in each theme, as well as the temporal evolution of technologies”, explained Ceres.
“Development options include encouraging sectoral competitiveness, identifying priority areas, building technological trajectories, formulating a strategic plan and promoting national technologies”, added the expert.
The project's total investment was R$8,9 million, with Cemig contributing 9,09% of the financing.
