ISA Energia Brasil has obtained the preliminary environmental license for the Itatiaia Project, a venture that will strengthen the transmission infrastructure between Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro. This initiative will expand the capacity for transporting renewable energy produced in the country and contribute to strengthening the electrical interconnection between the Northeast and Southeast regions.
With a projected investment of R$ 2,7 billion, the project includes the installation of more than 995 transmission towers, which will require approximately 29 tons of metal structures. It also includes more than 1.000 kilometers of circuits and 35 500 kV inductive reactors.
The project also includes the construction of the Leopoldina 2 Substation in Minas Gerais, which will have a 500 kV yard to enable the transport of large volumes of electricity over long distances.
The project also includes the expansion of the Governador Valadares 6 substation in Minas Gerais, which will be connected to the Piraquê Project, and the Terminal Rio substation in Rio de Janeiro. Double-circuit transmission lines will also be implemented.
With the preliminary license, the company moves forward in the environmental licensing process necessary to obtain installation authorization and begin construction.
