A ANEEL (The National Electric Energy Agency) authorized this week the execution of the POTEE (Electric Energy Transmission Grant Plan) 2025, which allocates approximately R$ 1 billion in investments to strengthen the country's electric energy transmission system over the next four years.
In total, 687 small-scale reinforcements will be implemented in the basic network, as established in Decree No. 200/2026. The works will be carried out by 50 transmission companies, which will operate in a distributed manner across different regions of Brazil.
The schedule anticipates the completion of the projects by the end of 2029, with most of the interventions classified as being of immediate necessity due to the operational demands of the system.
The authorization for the reinforcements stems from technical studies prepared by the ONS (National System Operator), which is responsible for identifying bottlenecks, operational needs, and proposing solutions for the transmission network.
The proposals were analyzed by the SCE (Superintendence of Concessions, Permits and Authorizations for Electric Energy Services) of ANEEL, which verified that the works complied with the current regulations and fully validated the indications presented in the plan.
"The initiative is part of the ongoing effort of ANEEL "To strengthen the country's electrical infrastructure, ensuring higher quality energy supply, reduced operational risks, and greater capacity for the flow of energy from generation sources, especially renewable ones," the Agency reported.
