André Pepitone will leave his position as general director of ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) to take over as the new financial director of Itaipu Binacional.

The information was released by the Minister of MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy), Bento Albuquerque, in an interview with CNN this Sunday (6).

According to the minister, the confirmation of Pepitone as the plant's new financial director took place last week, in a meeting.

Albuquerque also said that the nomination will begin to be processed in the next few days and will still be approved by the Eletrobras board of directors.

The position on the plant's board of directors became vacant after President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) appointed Vice Admiral Anatalicio Risden Junior as the new Brazilian general director of Itaipu, at the beginning of January.

Pepitone is a career civil servant and is a director of the ANEEL since 2010. His term as director general of the entity ends on August 14. To take his place, the Federal Government nominated Sandoval Feitosa, who still needs confirmation from the Senate.

Feitosa is a long-time employee of ANEEL, having begun his career at the Agency in 2005 as the entity's regulatory specialist. He also carried out technical auditing activities at energy distribution and transmission concessionaires in SFE (Electricity Services Inspection Superintendency).

Also in ANEEL, held the position of advisor to the Agency's board of directors in 2014. In 2015, he assumed the position of superintendent of regulation of transmission services and in 2017 he became superintendent of inspection of electricity services.

At the beginning of 2018, he was also appointed to the position of director of the entity, and representing the Agency, he served as director of ABAR (Brazilian Association of Regulatory Agencies), from 2018 to 2020.
