The BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) approved, this Monday (28), financing of R$ 1 billion for the construction of 11 solar plants in Arinos, in the northwest of Minas Gerais.
The project will be implemented by Atlas Renewable Energy and is part of the Draco Solar Complex, which will have an installed capacity of 505 MWac. The energy generated will be used to meet industrial demand, with a volume equivalent to the consumption of approximately 569 homes.
The complex is scheduled to begin operations in early 2026. During the implementation phase, the project is estimated to generate approximately 2,1 direct and indirect jobs in the region.
The investment also includes the construction of an associated transmission system, consisting of a 500 kV substation and a 15 km transmission line, connecting the project to the SIN (National Interconnected System).
The energy produced will be sold in the Free Energy Market, serving corporate consumers with long-term contracts.
Support for climate and decarbonization
The financing was made possible through resources from Finem and the Climate Fund, the latter linked to MMA (Ministry of Environment and Climate Change).
The initiative is aligned with the PNMC (National Plan on Climate Change), which provides for the maintenance of a high share of renewable sources in the Brazilian electricity matrix.
Founded in 2017, Atlas Renewable Energy is an international renewable energy generation company with a project portfolio of 8,4 GW, of which 2,5 GW are in advanced stages of development and ready for contracting, and 3,6 GW are in operation. The company and BNDES have a history of partnerships in the sector.
