O BNB Faucet (Banco do Nordeste) expanded the availability of credits for the acquisition and installation of solar energy in homes.

to 2023, the institution reserved R$186 million for photovoltaic projects in the nine states of the Northeast region – one 28% increase regarding to the budgeted amount in 2022.

O increase offered has direct relationship with market heating solar energy in the country and with high demand for individuals to install the technology in their homes.

In all, in the last four years, BNB Faucet recorded growing applications in the segment, surpassing, that year, the mark of R$500 million in similar operations. In total, there were more than 15 thousand families benefited.

The operations offered are carried out through the line FNE Sol-Individual, whose main attractions are the more affordable interest rates, as they rely on resources from the Constitutional Fund, and the payment term, which can be up to eight years, with up to a six-month grace period.

Altogether, the BNB calculates that only financing from FNE Sol-Pessoa Física has already been responsible for avoid the emission of almost 100 thousand tons of CO2 per year in the Brazilian atmosphere.

Furthermore, the financial institution also calculates that it has already generated more than R$75 million in taxes and more than two thousand indirect jobs with solar energy – which is currently the third largest source in the national matrix, behind only hydro and wind energy.

By 2023, the expectation is that the photovoltaic solar matrix will surpass the wind source and become the second largest in the country, according to projections from ABSOLAR (Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association).
