Most of the generation in the Brazilian electricity matrix continues to come from renewable sources. Hydroelectric plants lead with 103,2 GW (48,76% of the total), followed by small hydroelectric plants, which total 5,89 GW (2,80%) and hydroelectric generating plants, with 874,02 MW (0,41%).
Thermoelectric plants account for 22,82% of installed capacity (47,07 GW), while wind power represents 33,74 GW (15,91%), centralized solar power reaches 17,67 GW (8,37%) and nuclear power plants complete the picture with 1,99 GW (0,94%).
In the first four months of this year, the Brazilian electricity matrix grew by 1.916,08 MW. New generators in eight plants began operating commercially in April, totaling 141,09 MW of power: six wind farms in Bahia (85,50 MW), the Codora biomass thermoelectric plant in Goiás (50,00 MW) and the Boa Vista Small Hydroelectric Plant in Santa Catarina (5,60 MW).
Still according to the SIGA, updated daily with data from plants in operation and projects granted in the construction phase, 85,06% of the plants are renewable sources.
