A power generation capacity No. Brazil must have a expansive growth our next years because of the renewable sources.

The statement was made by Sandoval Feitosa, general director of ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), this Tuesday (05), at an event celebrating Huawei's 25 years in the country.

Currently, Brazil has a installed capacity of 195 GW of power through all its energy sources.

According to the executive, more than 150 GW have already been granted only from renewable sources.

According to Feitosa, much of the expansion planned will occur through the implementation of solar and wind energy generation plants.

“The input of these sources has considerably changed our electrical matrix. This imposes challenges on our intelligent SIN (National Interconnected System),” he said.

Among the challenges , Feitosa pointed out that it will be necessary prepare transmission, operation and distribution systems to ensure the generation and viability of investments to the market.

The executive also spoke during the event that the electrical sector is inspired by the telecommunications sector to promote Free Energy Market, which from January 2024 will be expanded to allow more consumers to access energy through the supplier of their choice.

“We have a leading example in the telecommunications sector. When we talk about the Free Energy Market, we have the example of portability, access to any operator”, he commented.

“Surely, there are telephone users in Brazil who may not even have a voice package, just a data package, because that’s all they need. It is this freedom that we also want in the electricity sector”, highlighted Feitosa.
