Neoenergia Brasília delivered a package of energy efficiency actions to the FAB (Brazilian Air Force), highlighting the implementation of two photovoltaic solar plants.
The project also includes the installation of LED lighting on internal streets and the replacement of more than 13 conventional light bulbs with high-efficiency models. With an investment of R$3,7 million, the initiatives are expected to generate annual savings of R$1,17 million for the public coffers.
The new plants will have a capacity of 1,7 GWh/year, enough energy to supply more than 1.200 homes, representing a reduction of R$680 per year in electricity expenses.
Other initiatives also boost savings: 580 LED streetlights were installed on internal streets, with an estimated impact of R$270/year, while replacing 13.089 indoor light bulbs is expected to save R$220/year. Neoenergia Brasília serves approximately 1,1 million customers in the Federal District.
"This project symbolizes the positive impact that public-private partnerships can generate when we combine technology, a commitment to sustainability, and a focus on efficiency," said Solange Ribeiro, Vice President of Institutional Relations and Sustainability at Neoenergia.
Brigadier General Pedro Luís Farcic emphasized the initiative's relevance to FAB's activities. "Projects like this demonstrate our commitment to innovation, sound management of public resources, and building a more sustainable future for Brazil," he stated.
Strategic partnership
The initiative is part of Neoenergia's PEE (Energy Efficiency Program), regulated by ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), and adds to other actions developed with the Armed Forces.
Since the beginning of the partnership, 77 military units in the country have been covered, with the installation of 16 solar plants, replacement of 87,8 LED lamps, investments exceeding R$22 million and estimated annual savings of R$5,1 million.
New projects are already underway: three Air Force units will receive 1,1 MWp solar plants, while two Army units will also be included, totaling R$3,6 million in additional investments.
