Aggreko, a British company specializing in temporary and modular power generation, has completed the acquisition of 6 thermal power plants from BBF (Brasil Bio Fuels) in Amazonas and now owns 100% of CGA (Consórcio Geração Amazonas).

Announced this week, the operation adds 11,4 MW to the company's portfolio, which now totals 149,1 MW of installed capacity across 32 power plants in the state's isolated systems.

Each unit serves a locality without connection to the SIN (National Interconnected System), which depends on local generation for its electricity supply. The value of the transaction was not disclosed.

The acquired plants are located in Belém do Solimões, in the municipality of Tabatinga; Estirão do Equador and Palmeiras do Javari, in Atalaia do Norte; Feijoal, in Benjamin Constant; as well as Envira and Ipixuna.

According to Aggreko, the acquisition opens up opportunities to expand the use of technologies already employed by the company in Amazonas, such as remote monitoring and operation.

The company is also evaluating hybridization opportunities, combining thermal generation, renewable sources, and battery energy storage systems.

The goal, according to the company, is to increase operational efficiency and reduce fuel consumption when local conditions allow.

“The consolidation of these assets reinforces Aggreko’s commitment to the reliability of energy supply in strategic regions of Brazil. By bringing together 32 plants, we are expanding our capacity to apply technology, operational knowledge, and new energy solutions in the Amazon,” says Marco Contin, general manager of Aggreko in Brazil.
