Defining the rules for contracting energy storage systems is at the heart of the extraordinary meeting that the board of directors of ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) will hold a meeting this Tuesday, the 27th, at 16 PM.
The procedures related to the bidding processes for the battery auctions scheduled for December will be reported by Director Gentil Nogueira. The auctions are scheduled for December 2nd, this one focused on projects with national content, and December 4th, of a general nature.
The auctions will mark the debut of this type of contracting in Brazil. The sector's interest is linked to the possibility of incorporating batteries into the electrical infrastructure to offer operational flexibility and contribute to system stability.
Market expectations are for contracts totaling around 2 GW in these auctions, compared to approximately 20 GW in registered projects.
TUSD and TUST in the Free Energy Market
In addition to the extraordinary meeting, the agenda of ANEEL Tomorrow's schedule includes the 19th deliberative round, with voting taking place between 8 am and 18 pm.
One of the topics is the opening of a public consultation to regulate the end of discounts on the Tariffs for Use of Distribution and Transmission Systems (TUSD and TUST) for consumers who migrated to the Free Energy Market or expanded their facilities from November 25, 2025, as per Law No. 15.269.
Director Willamy Frota is the rapporteur for the matter. The technical proposal recommends adopting the official communication of the contract to the distributor as an objective reference to prove that the consumer exercised the option for migration. The conclusion of the public consultation on the 2026 CDE (Energy Development Account) budget is also planned.
