A new energy storage system that can operate even in properties without solar generation is starting to arrive on the Brazilian market. With a 5,12 kWh battery, the AquaVolt LV, from Dyness, was developed to provide backup power to selected loads during power outages.

Presented in the country during Intersolar South America 2026, the equipment combines a lithium iron phosphate battery and an energy conversion system in a single unit.

The solution is geared towards homes, apartments, and small commercial establishments. In condominiums, for example, it can be used to power gate equipment, cameras, access control systems, and lighting, provided the loads are compatible with the available power and capacity.

One of the key differentiators, according to the manufacturer, is the AC (alternating current) coupling, allowing the equipment to receive power from the grid via a plug-and-play connection to an outlet or a fixed connection to the electrical panel, enabling its use even in properties without photovoltaic modules.

The AquaVolt LV can also be used in installations that already have solar power generation. However, since it does not have a photovoltaic (PV) input, the modules do not have a DC connection.

“Consumers are increasingly valuing the continuity of energy supply, comfort, and safety. In homes, apartments, and offices, an interruption can compromise activities and the operation of essential equipment,” commented Carlos Trotta, Country Manager of Dyness Brazil.

According to the executive, the solution can also serve consumers whose properties do not have adequate space for the installation of solar panels, as well as those who already have a solar system and need a retrofit to adapt their existing on-grid system.

Backup in 127 V and 220 V

According to the product specifications, the transfer time from AC input to off-grid mode is up to 10 milliseconds. In case of grid failure, the equipment switches to powering the loads connected to the backup output using the energy stored in the battery.

According to the manufacturer, the autonomy varies depending on the consumption of the selected loads and the amount of energy available in the battery at the time of interruption.

However, the equipment allows the selection of the output voltage according to the loads to be served. For the Brazilian market, configurations in 127 V and 220 V are available. There is also a 110 V option, with a nominal apparent power of 1,7 kVA.

At 127 V, the AquaVolt LV provides a nominal apparent power of 2 kVA and can reach 2,3 kVA for one minute. At 220 V, the nominal power is 3,6 kVA, with the capacity to reach 4 kVA for the same period. The maximum efficiencies reported by the manufacturer are 93% and 94,9%, respectively.

Loads that will receive power during an outage can be connected to the backup output via a dedicated circuit or by separating the circuits in the low-voltage distribution panel.

This configuration allows the stored energy to be directed only to equipment considered a priority. The installation must take into account the power available in the AquaVolt LV and the characteristics of the connected loads, with appropriate sizing of circuits and protection devices.

The AC input can be connected to a wall outlet or, via direct connection to the main low-voltage switchboard (MLV). In this case, the circuit, cables, connections, and protection devices must be sized according to the characteristics of the installation.

When using a wall socket, the available current is also limited by the specifications of the plug and the socket itself.

When powered on at 127 V, the connection uses phase, neutral, and protective grounding. At 220 V, the equipment accepts power supply between phase and neutral or between two phases, also with grounding.

According to Dyness, installations with fixed wiring must be carried out by a qualified professional and follow applicable regulations.

The battery has a capacity of 5,12 kWh.

The battery has a nominal voltage of 51,2 V, a capacity of 100 Ah, and a depth of discharge of 95%.

Dyness reports a service life of at least 8 cycles. This result considers tests performed at 25°C, charging and discharging at 0,2°C, a discharge depth of 95%, and a remaining capacity of 70% at the end of its service life.

The system has protection against overvoltage, short circuit and overtemperature, as well as an IP65 protection rating. Cooling occurs naturally and the noise level specified by the manufacturer is less than 35 dB.

The device also features an LCD screen and communication capabilities via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and RS485.

Finally, Dyness announced that the first AquaVolt LV devices are expected to arrive in Brazil in the fourth quarter of 2026, marking the beginning of the solution's availability in the national market.
