A EDP Brazil announced, this Monday (17), investments of BRL 530 million our next four years in the state of Goiás, focusing on generating solar energy, transmission and social projects.

Of this total, R $ million 325 will be destined for the construction of 11 photovoltaic plants, which will operate, for the most part, in GD modality (distributed generation).

In total, the projects must have a capacity of 48 MWp. The forecast is that 550 jobs will be created during the construction period.

Of the total installed capacity, 27 MWp are under construction e 21 MWp are still under development. One of these plants, located in the municipality of Iaciara, has a capacity of 1,29 MWp and will supply Banco do Brasil facilities and branches in Goiás.

According to João Marques da Cruz, CEO of EDP Brasil, the investments in distributed generation will benefit directly to companies and consumers in Goiás.

“The investment will be made by us and consumers, as a result, will pay a lower price than that charged by the distributor. It will be a two-year contract and, at the end of it, people and companies will be able to choose which method they will opt for. But, we believe that they will remain loyal to GD, because it has an economic and environmental advantage, without initial investment,” he stated.

Broadcasting and social projects

Em power transmission, EDP informed that investments will be R $ million 200 between 2023 and 2024. The resources are being directed to the expansion, modernization and increase in capacity of seven substations.

These are the Itapaci, Planalto and Águas Lindas substations, which were delivered in the first half of this year, and Anhanguera, Xavantes, Goiânia Leste and Pirineus, which will be delivered in 2024. The too much R$5 million will be allocated to social impact projects such as EDP in Schools.
