This week, EDP delivered its second solar power plant built for NGK do Brasil, a company that operates in the automotive and porcelain coatings segments. Located in Mogi das Cruzes (SP), the new plant will supply NGK's factory with 1.821 MWh of energy per year and will generate a 7% saving in electricity consumption.
In total, the project has 3 420 Wp modules and nine inverters, which use two hectares of the factory land. The project, completed in less than three months, is considered the largest photovoltaic system in the Alto Tietê region (SP), according to EDP. To make the most of the available area, the concessionaire developed a solution that divided the installation of solar panels between the roof and the ground, with the energy generated being injected into the industrial plant itself.
“This project reflects our commitment to providing tailor-made solutions for our customers, as the project was divided between two areas of NGK land, in addition to ensuring savings and more sustainability for the company's operations”, stated Carlos Andrade, vice-president of Strategy and New Business at EDP.
“NGK establishes environmental policy, objectives and targets based on a global vision called 'ECO VISION', which aims to build a sustainable society, using exclusive technology to develop and offer environmentally friendly products”, said Nivaldo Yano, head from the Environment Department of NGK do Brasil.
“This project meets the goals of reducing the effects of climate change and carbon dioxide emissions, thus preventing global warming,” added the executive.
