Energy consumption is expected to rise 3,6% in October, reaching an average of 85,3 MW.

Forecasts indicate that the South will have 91,5% water storage capacity by the end of the month, ahead of other regions of the country.

Projections from ONS (National Electric System Operator) indicate that the load on the SIN (National Interconnected System) should grow by 3,6% in October, compared to the same period in 2025, reaching an average of 85.274 MW.

According to the PMO (Monthly Operation Program) bulletin released last Friday (25), all subsystems should register an increase in demand next month. The biggest increases are expected in the North (9,3%) and Northeast (9,2%), followed by the Southeast/Central-West (1,9%) and the South (0,1%).

Despite expectations of higher energy consumption, the hydrological scenario remains favorable. ONS projections indicate that reservoirs should end October at high levels, particularly in the South (91,5%), followed by the North (66,1%), Northeast (63,4%), and Southeast/Central-West (55,6%).

Forecasts also show ENA (Natural Inflow Energy) above the LTA (Long-Term Average) in the South (193%) and Southeast/Central-West (105%) regions, reflecting more favorable inflow conditions.

This scenario also contributed to the fact that ANEEL The city announced the green tariff flag in October, ending a five-month sequence of the yellow flag. With the change, there will no longer be an additional charge for tariff flags on the electricity bill.

According to the Agency, the improvement in hydrological conditions during the transition between the dry and wet periods reduced energy generation costs and allowed the return to the green tariff flag.

According to the Director-General of ONS, Marcio Rea, the gradual rise in temperatures in the coming months will continue to be monitored by the operator, which states that it is adopting preventive measures to ensure the safety and reliability of the SIN operation.

“In the coming months, temperatures are expected to gradually increase throughout the country. Given this scenario, the ONS will continue to closely monitor projections and proactively and in a coordinated manner adopt the necessary measures to ensure the safety and reliability of the operation of the SIN (National Interconnected System) in line with the evolution of energy scenarios,” stated Marcio Rea, Director-General of the ONS.
