Jinko Solar announced that a new 20 GW large-scale solar cell factory is being built in Chuxiong, Yunnan Province, China.
Installed on an area of 666.500 m², the new base will increase internal capacity from around 11 GW last month to more than 30 GW by the end of this year.
The first phase of the Chuxiong facility, which will have a production capacity of 10 GW, is scheduled to open in April 2021. It will, according to the company, allow it to double production of its Tiger Pro series module.
According to Jinko, the factory will be equipped with automated and technologically advanced production lines, increasing the plant's efficiency and yield. Furthermore, the base will be powered by 100% renewable energy upon completion.
Jinko sets new efficiency record
The photovoltaic panel manufacturer announced that it has established a new efficiency record 24,90% conversion rate for its TOPCon N-type monocrystalline silicon solar cell. The result was confirmed by the IFSH (Institute for Solar Energy Research) in Hamelin, Germany.
