High interest
The movement of the PetroThe auction takes place in a context of widespread participation in the country's first battery auction. Data released by EPE (Energy Research Company) shows that 6.091 projects were registered to compete in the bidding process, with the majority of the registered capacity concentrated in the Northeast region.
The projects were registered in two categories, focused on equipment with different national content requirements, and the contracts will be valid for 15 years, with supply expected to begin in August 2028.
Brazil's first battery auction receives over 6 project entries.
Next stages
Despite the high number of applications, EPE emphasizes that registration represents only the initial phase of the process. The projects will still undergo technical qualification before the selection of eligible participants for the competition, a step considered crucial for determining the level of competition.
The first LRCAP-BESS (Reserve Capacity Auction in the form of Storage) is scheduled to take place on December 2nd and 4th and aims to contract battery systems to reinforce the reliability and operational flexibility of the SIN (National Interconnected System).
