A PetroBrazil will install a 13,5 MW solar power plant in Boaventura Energy Complexin Itaboraí (RJ), to supply part of the electricity demand of its own industrial facilities. The project will operate on a self-generation of energy basis.
The implementation of the project was authorized by ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) through Dispatch No. 2.187, of July 2, 2026, published in the DOU (Official Gazette of the Union) this Tuesday (14). The grant awarded to PetroThe Brazilian certificate will be valid for 35 years.
The plant will be built by Lotus ICT Empreendimentos and will serve to supply the state-owned Boaventura Complex (formerly Gaslub/Comperj).
The location is the main hub for the outflow of Brazilian pre-salt oil, housing the country's largest UPGN (Natural Gas Processing Unit), with the capacity to process up to 21 million cubic meters of gas per day from the Santo António Basin.
According to PetroIn Brazil, local generation will allow the company to reduce energy acquisition costs, decrease exposure to fluctuations in the electricity market, and contribute to the reduction of Scope 2 emissions resulting from electricity consumption.
