After suspending part of its activities due to the budget blockage, the ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) announced the resumption of activities at the agency's headquarters.
Starting next Monday (11), the regulator's headquarters will once again operate full-time, from 8 am to 18 pm, Monday to Friday. The announcement was made by general director Sandoval Feitosa, at the beginning of the regular meeting this Tuesday (5).
“The block was reduced from R$38,6 million to R$7,9 million, undoubtedly representing an important step forward in the resumption of essential activities. ANEEL, but still with a restricted schedule, concentrating most of the releases for the month of December”, stated the general director.
The resumption follows Federal Government Decree No. 12.566, issued on July 30, which reduced budget freezes for regulatory agencies. Even so, Sandoval emphasized that "a careful reassessment" of all agency spending is necessary, especially for outsourced contracts.
"We also need to reprioritize the activities that need to be completed by the end of the year, with special attention being paid to our ombudsman's office and oversight activities," he said.
The Agency's director-general also emphasized that he has already contacted the Federal Budget Secretariat to request that this disbursement schedule be reconsidered, considering "the particularities of the agency's payment flow," he added, highlighting that new arrangements should be announced in the coming days.
Since July 1st, the ANEEL had been operating on reduced hours, from 8 a.m. to 14 p.m., and suspended a series of activities at the agency's headquarters. At the time, Decree No. 12.477/2025 froze part of the regulatory agencies' budgets.
A ANEEL had its budget of R$155,64 million approved in the Annual Budget Law (LOA) reduced to R$117,01 million. "This makes it impossible, in the Agency's view, to adequately fulfill its responsibilities," the regulator stated in a statement at the time. The new decree, published last week, temporarily alleviates the situation.
