ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) opened the Subsidy Request No. 016/2024 so that society can give its opinion on the provision of services and discuss proposals to encourage improvements in the performance of electricity consumer councils.

Consumer Councils were established by Law No. 8.631 / 1993, which determined that public electricity distribution service concessionaires must create councils to represent the interests of consumers in their concession areas.

Decree No. 2.335 / 97 defines that it is ANEEL's responsibility to stimulate the organization and operationalization of existing consumer councils formed by representatives of the main classes of consumer units: residential, rural, public power, commercial and industrial, according to Resolution No. 963/2021.

Experts from ANEEL, developed a technical note which proposes the creation of a synthetic indicator to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of councils. The document can be accessed clicking here.

With the data obtained, the Agency will be able to identify strengths to promote and give visibility to successful practices and detect areas that need improvement to develop planning and create preventive and corrective actions.

Furthermore, the proposed indicator will combine two or more simple indicators to measure the effectiveness of the allocation of human, physical and financial resources, and may contribute to future decisions.

Contributions must be submitted by October 14 out of 2024 to the email address ts016_2024@aneel.gov.br or through the digital protocol of ANEEL, available by clicking here.
