Comerc, one of the largest companies in the energy market in Brazil, published on its blog the list of Brazilian cities most favorable for the use of photovoltaic solar energy systems.
Teresina, capital of Piauí, occupies first place in the residential segment, while the capital of Espírito Santo has the best viability for small industries and businesses.
According to Comerc, an investment in the capital of Piauí pays for itself in less than 3 years. In Vitória, small industries and businesses have a return on investment in less than 5 years. The calculations were made based on current distributed generation rules.
In the residential sector, the cities that occupy the top 10 positions are: Teresina, Belém, Rio de Janeiro, Manaus, João Pessoa, São Luiz, Goiânia, Maceió, Cuiabá and Vitória. The complete list, with 27 cities analyzed, can be found on the Comerc website. Investment return times vary from 2,85 years to 5,12 years in the cities analyzed in the study.
In the segment of small industries and commerce, the best placed cities are: Vitória, Rio de Janeiro, Manaus, Teresina, Belém, Goiânia, Porto Velho, Cuiabá, Brasília and Florianópolis. The complete list, also with 27 cities analyzed, can be found on the Comerc website. In these cities, payback times vary from 4,75 to 7,56 years in the segment studied.
According to the director of Comerc, the factors analyzed by the Comerc Solar Index are insolation, cost of photovoltaic equipment and fluctuations in energy tariffs. The last item is the one that most impacts the definition of the return on investment time.
