A Electronorte, a subsidiary of Eletrobras, and the Warehouse investment fund, from the BTG Pactual Group, were the big winners of the first broadcast auction of electrical energy of 2024.

O competition was held by ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) and by MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) this Thursday (28), at the headquarters of B3, in São Paulo (SP).

All 15 lots offered were sold, common average discount of 40,62%, and investments of R$ 18,2 billion – the second largest in history, behind only the event held in December last year (R$ 19,7 billion).

A Eletrobras alone won four lots, including the largest and most powerful, lot 5. The other lots won by the company were 1, 3 and 9. The companies' works will be carried out in the states of Ceará, Piauí, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Bahia and Santa Catarina.

Already BTG Pactual Group's investment fund won the lot with the highest estimated investment value auction, number 6. The fund also won the disputes for lots 4 and 14. The works cover the states of Bahia, Minas Gerais, Alagoas, Paraíba, Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Norte.

Altogether, the first auction of transmission of 2024 foresees the construction of 6.464 kilometers of new lines e substations with 9.200 MW in transformation capacity.

The estimate is that more than 34,9 jobs will be created to carry out works in the states of Alagoas, Bahia, Ceará, Mato Grosso do Sul, Maranhão, Minas Gerais, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Piauí, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte , Santa Catarina, São Paulo and Tocantins.

To the press, the ONS (National Electrical System Operator) evaluated as positive the results of the first transmission auction of 2024, highlighting the importance of the role of solar and wind energy.

“As is the case in the energy segment around the world, the Brazilian electricity sector is undergoing accelerated transformations and wind and solar plants are the growth engine of the Brazilian generating complex. Expanding transmission is essential for the integration of these projects into the SIN and for consolidating the energy transition process,” said Luiz Carlos Ciocchi, general director of the ONS.
