The traditional event “Christmas Lights” de Socorro (SP) takes place between November 23, 2024 and January 7, 2025, with a sustainable event that features a solar power plant that powers half of the lighting.
The use of a solar power plant is a new feature of this edition of the event, which in addition to being sustainable, has an educational purpose. During the event, visitors will be able to learn more about how the plant works, the benefits of solar energy and how it contributes to a more sustainable future.
There will be information panels, as well as guides to raise awareness among visitors about the importance of sustainability and celebrating Christmas in a more conscious way.
This year’s theme is “Our Lights Illuminate and Warm Hearts,” with over 80 km of lights illuminating squares, avenues and tourist attractions in the city. 20 locations received special decorations, from the Colonial Portal to the Palácio das Águias.
In addition, more than 20 million PET bottles were recycled to create Christmas decorations, directly involving more than 100 people in vulnerable situations who participated in everything from collecting the materials to making the decorations.
Among the main attractions are the Enchanted Forest and the Tunnel of Stars with trails illuminated by lights; the Little Elf House; the Chocolate Factory; the Polar Express and Santa Claus's House.
