As reported by Canal Solar, ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) authorized tariff adjustments with percentages above two digits for energy distributors in different regions of the country, increasing pressure on the budgets of Brazilian families and companies.

Two of these adjustments have already come into effect this Friday (4) in municipalities in the States of São Paulo and Tocantins: Enel-SP had an average increase of 13,94% with an impact of 13,47% for low voltage consumers (residences and small businesses) and 15,77% for high voltage customers (industries and large establishments).

At Energisa Tocantins, the average increase is 12,68%, reaching all 139 cities in the state. The impact will be 13,25% for high voltage and 12,55% for low voltage.

Both adjustments easily surpassed the accumulated inflation of the last 12 months, which was 5,32% according to the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics).

And these are not isolated cases. A study by Abrace Energia, in partnership with the consultancy Ex Ante and published this Thursday (3) by Canal Solar, shows that the cost of electricity in Brazil has risen 1.299% in the last 25 years, almost four times more than the country's official inflation, which accumulated 326% in the same period.
